Nestled in the bustling center of Montreal at 75 Rue De la Gauchetiere O, this restaurant specializes in shabu shabu—a communal, interactive meal featuring thinly sliced meats, fresh seafood, and crisp vegetables cooked gently in a simmering broth.

The star of the menu is unquestionably the Lamb Shabu Shabu, prized for its tenderness and rich flavor, complemented beautifully by the option to customize broths and sauces. The space itself exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for everything from intimate dinners to small group gatherings. It's clear that the restaurant caters to those who seek both authenticity and comfort in Japanese cuisine.

Beyond the main dishes, the appetizers like the seasoned calamari and seaweed salad provide a refreshing start, while the dessert offerings, such as matcha ice cream and mochi, offer a genuine taste of Japan’s sweet traditions. The drink selection better rounds out the experience with iconic Japanese beers like Asahi Super Dry and the more unique Hitachino Nest brews, appealing to both casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike.

Shabu Shabu Kagayaki clearly focuses on quality and freshness, especially evident in their wagyu and premium beef options that have garnered high praise for their preparation and flavor. Came in for some Japanese fondue on a rainy day which turned out to be just the.right choice. The classic combo gives you a good and balanced amount of delicious food. The atmosphere and setup are great. Service was impeccable. We had a great dining experience.

Fantastic service that was attentive and speedy. The spicy broth really hit the spot. There is plenty of food for each set. I got the premium beef set and it was really yummy. Wish there was a bit more meat but I came away stuffed (there was a lot of veggies, and it came with a bowl of rice and noodles). The sesame sauce was also really yummy. The ponzu sauce was a bit too salty. Dessert was an alfogato with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream tasted like cheap ice cream but it was elevated by the espresso.

The food was awesome, especially the wagyu. I have been eaten wagyu in many places. This restaurant’s wagyu were very fresh and well prepared. Both my son and I loved it. The servers were really nice and kind to us as well! Will definitely come back for it!

First time trying Shabu Shabu. Great atmosphere and friendly service, though they did feel understaffed. We got their new omakase set for 39$ and the sukiyaki broth. The portions seemed small at first glance but turned out to be surprisingly filling. The broth was really good but on the salty side, had to drink lots of water. Be careful not to leave your ingredients soaking in the broth for too long! Overall I'd come back here for a special occasion!

The food was fresh. The sets are very filling because of the noodles and rice you get. However I thought the price was a lot for what you get. The sets could probably come with more meat.

Japanese shabu in Chinatown. It’s been great over the years, keep coming back. Same consistent quality food. Sukiyaki soup is the best for Angus beef lightly cooked and dipped in raw egg. Prime beef is great as more lean option.
